Madara Horseman is an ancient archaeological monument, representing the bas-relief carved in the rocks 23 meters height from the base of a cliff. Located in northeastern Bulgaria, 20 km from the town of Shumen. It was declared a monument of world heritage by UNESCO in 1979 In 2008, the Madara Horseman was declared a global symbol of Bulgaria, following a national survey.
